“JiranSecurity will not only be solid but also become a robust company, aiming to achieve 100 billion won in sales within the next 10 years.”
These are the aspirations of Jo Won-hee, CEO of JiranSecurity.
Company Background and Vision
JiranSecurity, a specialist in providing enterprise security solutions including email security, document security, mobile security, and malware threat response systems, was spun off from JiranSoft’s security division and established in January 2014. The company was listed on KOSDAQ two years later in 2016.
Jo, who was previously the CEO of JiranData, took on the role of CEO of JiranSecurity this year. His association with Jiran dates back to December 2001 when he joined the parent company, JiranSoft, where he was recognized for his management capabilities through roles such as the Director of the Personal Information Protection Center and Head of the Business Division.
In 2020, as CEO of JiranData, he led the company to surpass 10 billion won in revenue within two years of its spin-off, maintaining a double-digit growth rate annually.
Sustainable Growth and Revenue Target
Jo emphasized the importance of sustainability for the “100-year company” and set a new slogan, “From Solid to Robust.” He believes that it is feasible to challenge for 100 billion won in revenue within the next 10 years, considering the growth and accomplishments achieved so far.
Jo’s first strategy for achieving the 100 billion won target focuses on the well-being and happiness of employees. He initiated one-on-one meetings with all 150 employees, dedicating significant time to listen to their concerns, which resulted in successful outcomes such as allowing full remote work, adjusting salary payment dates, and merging team dinner budgets.
Additionally, the “Mile Sales” campaign has been launched to reward employees for their contributions, offering incentives for opportunities or sales generated by non-sales staff.
Business Growth Strategy
JiranSecurity plans to enhance its existing products, transition to service-oriented models, and pursue aggressive mergers and acquisitions (M&A) to increase its value. The company’s email security solution (SpamSniper), secure file server (OfficeHard), and enterprise mobile security solution (MobileKeeper) already hold the top market share in Korea. Their document centralization solution (DocuOne) and attachment malware detection system (SaniTox) are also leading in their respective fields.
Jo intends to expand the company’s technology, particularly focusing on Security-as-a-Service (SECaaS) and Artificial Intelligence (AI). The goal is to transition from a B2B security software provider to a B2B SECaaS company, leveraging AI to improve threat detection accuracy.
Mergers and Acquisitions
Jo hinted at potential M&A activities, emphasizing the need to integrate faster-moving companies and focus on acquiring core technologies. He mentioned the possibility of large-scale M&As as well as numerous small-scale M&As to secure technological capabilities and enhance the company’s value.
Employee Happiness as a Priority
Throughout the interview, Jo stressed the importance of employee happiness, believing that a strong company foundation is essential for this. He acknowledged that security work is challenging and often not enjoyable, but emphasized the need for the company to grow in order to provide greater trust and satisfaction to both employees and customers.
